Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance & Certifications
- Lead the company’s compliance initiatives and ensure platform-level readiness for key certifications, including but not limited to:
- SOC 2
- ISO/IEC 27001
- HIPAA
- Other jurisdiction- or sector-specific compliance frameworks
- Develop, maintain, and audit all documentation required for ongoing certification and regulatory compliance.
2. General Counsel Functions
- Draft, review, and maintain all global commercial and product-related terms and agreements.
- Oversee all sales and licensing terms across jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local and international laws.
- Lead negotiation of commercial contracts, including strategic partnerships and country-level agreements.
- Advise and prepare legal frameworks for Dataswyft’s market entry and operations in the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union.
3. Data Protection & Privacy
- Serve as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) for Dataswyft, ensuring full compliance with global data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PDPA).
- Monitor and manage all data privacy practices and impact assessments internally and externally.
4. Technical Standards Governance
- Own and maintain the technical and legal standards for:
- Data Connectors (integration protocols for external data sources)
- Data Schemes (format, structure and policies for high assurance data assets)
- Work closely with the HAT Community Foundation (HCF) to publish clear guidelines enabling third-party developers to create compliant connectors and high-assurance data assets.
5. Protocols & Techno-Legal Code
- Collaborate with the engineering team to translate legal codes and governance rules into enforceable, machine-readable techno-legal protocols.
- Drive the continuous development of Dataswyft’s legal infrastructure to align with evolving platform architecture and data systems.
6. Governance & Stewardship
- Work with HCF to maintain the platform’s Stewardship Policy governing the issuance, management, and validation of high-assurance data assets and associated data schemes.
